Solidarity

May the collective be a flame

That lights the paths of liberation.

Like candles on a stormy night,

It keeps the grief warm.

May this ink be a messenger

That writes chorus for the songs,

Of the people who have been silenced

It voices rhythm for those to come.

May this rage be the vessel

That holds the tensions of the time

Bridging pulses of courage and wisdom

It fans the flames that fuel collective strength.

May this solidarity be the nourishment

That fills our lungs with soul fire.

As our hearts beat harder,

Grit to bear what lies ahead,

It gives us hope.

"What else can you do, when your stage is ember
and your audience is rifle?
You had to do this —
to write poetry with the tip of flame
and set fire to your fear and silence."
