Maryam Obeyd Therapy Logo
A compassionate and empowering space for healing.

Salaam, I'm Maryam (she/they).

Therapy with me is a way to create connection, presence, and more fulfillment in your life and relationships. I believe in healing through psychological, emotional, somatic, and soul-based expressions that embody creativity, joy, harmony, and flow. My approach is compassionate, trauma-informed care that bridges healing and healthy changes for individuals, couples, and families.

Working with systemic care involves understanding how systems of oppression and privilege influence our personal, collective, and political lives. In our work together, we will tend to patterns that can get in the way of our most authentic, loving expressions and deeper purposes in life.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over a decade of experience in mental health, with availability in-person at my office in Costa Mesa, or virtually for anyone located in California.

My additional offerings include compassion-based practices through writing and poetry, meditation, creative art expressions, and somatic tools.

My Approach

My sessions with you are approached with warmth, curiosity, and respect.

Integrating a blend of insight-oriented framework with storytelling guides our work to seek what are you are seeking from therapy. I work intently with you to build deep understanding and to release or integrate the aspects that get in the way of what matters most to you and the genuine engagement that you want in life. Therapeutic guidance and collaboration can help release anchors that weigh us down.

  • relationship disharmony, couples in conflict

  • family conflict, co-parenting

  • depression, anxiety, ADHD, autism

  • life transitions

  • sex therapy including but not limited to: desire discrepancies, repair work, non-traditional relationships, non-monogamy, kink, intimacy and desire, Asexuality

  • survivors and high-achievers

  • perfectionism with creative thinkers and inner criticism with big feelers

  • Queer and Trans experiences

  • diaspora and immigrant celebrations and blues

  • collective liberation and political climates

Met with foundations of liberation, compassion, presence, and culturally-responsive care.

As a multiethnic, first-generation, Queer therapist, places of in-between and transformation are no stranger to my personal experiences. I believe in change, possibilities, and dreaming our way forward in communities and collective care. The tapestries of my lineages have brought me to this work with gratitude and appreciation.
